The 16th Edition of the Theatre Fair of Castilla y León-Ciudad Rodrigo takes place from the 20th to the 24thof August 2013. The Fair will become again one of the most indispensable meetings which contribute to the economic boost of the culture andtheatrical arts field. The “Junta de Castilla y León” enshrines this event with the aim of supporting the promotion, the development, the training, the interchange, the job creation and the stimulus of cultural industries linked to scenic arts.

The Theatre Fair, which is organized by the Consejería de Cultura y Turismo, a regional office which belongs to the Junta de Castilla y León, shows itself to be a renowned, worthwile and solid cultural project that has converted our Region into a significant model for this sector for the last fifteen years. The Fair engages a broad market in the middle and western part of the Peninsula that is not covered by other fairs and also consolidates the relationships with Extremadura and Portugal.

Each edition receives more than 600 registration forms from theatre companies and, usually, the final programme is the result of the selection of 30 companies that perform 40 promotional shows that are seen by more than 30.000 spectators and an average of 200 programmers. 

The Theatre Fair of Castilla y León is an incentive, a set of creative, educational and business opportunities. This western market of the scenic arts, “The Occidental Showcase of Theatre”, is characterized by the fact of being a meeting point where Ciudad Rodrigo becomes a genuine “full stage Theatre-City” that attracts a large amount of visitors every year. While facing the difficult economic situation, the Fair has grown to become a useful and effective market and proves that this event is a dynamic, optimist and attractive project for both professionals of the sectorand the audience linked to cultural tourism. The commercial opportunities offered by its varied programme, which includes several shorts of genres and shows directed towards a diverse audience, must be highlighted.
