“TALENT” MEETS UP IN CIUDAD RODRIGO FROM AUGUST 23rd TO 27th, 2016

The 19th edition of Theatre Fair of Castilla y León is taking place from August 23rd to 27th, 2016. New strategies for invigorating the performing arts market are encouraged in Ciudad Rodrigo; this is the reason why it becomes an unavoidable meeting point in the occidental performing arts field. Four figures serve as an example: five days, forty companies, 200 professionals and 30.000 people attending it.

The Department of Culture and Tourism of the Regional Government of Castilla y León promotes its organization, sharing partnership with Ayuntamiento de Ciudad Rodrigo (Ciudad Rodrigo City Council), Salamanca Province Council (Diputación Provincial de Salamanca) and Civitas Association, persevering in finding new approaches for fostering the cultural industries and stimulating the performing arts market, especially in Castilla y León, Extremadura and Portugal. For 18 editions, the Theatre Fair has become an important gathering place for the field, and sticks out due to three different qualities:
    • The design of a varied and changing programming, both related to contents and artistic proposals of different backgrounds.
    • The strong ties we establish with the Portuguese market.
    • The audience is the foundation of the Fair; each edition is supported by more than 30.000 people attending it.

The Theatre Fair of Castilla y León is a wide-ranging event, where innovation is stimulated. It hosts every kind of genre and format. An important part of the programming is aimed at families and children, and a third of it is devoted to street open-air performing arts. The Fair has 15 different venues and, approximately, 30% of the companies come from Castilla y León, 15% from a foreign country and the remaining percentage of them, from other regions of Spain.
Performing art diversity, professional understanding, market invigoration, information channels, creative talent and involvement with the territory are some the ingredients with which we are preparing this 19th edition of Theatre Fair of Castilla y León. We are willing to make Ciudad Rodrigo the Occidental Theatre Fair in the Peninsula once more!!!!!
